   Schuberts Adaption of Goethe's Erlkönig relies on stilistic features, that are of central importance for the hard rock and heavy metal movement of the seventies and eighties. For instance the tightly played rhythmic trioles of the right piano hand that resemble hacked distorted guitars or the use of repeated simple arpeggios transposed to various scales. The often chromatic melody-line and last but not least the dark-romantic theme of the "Lied" itself also attribute to this similarity. In order to demonstrate this here is a (home)-recording done as good as it was possible with a poor singing voice and low budget equipment...
